Cote d’Ivoire Equity Watch | 11 Aug 2015: BRVM composite index gains 0.14%, equity market cap XOF 10 billion up
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) main indices closed the trading session this Tuesday, slightly lower than the previous day for BRVM 10, and higher for BRVM Composite. BRVM 10 index decreased from 310.58 to 310.39 points, a drop of 0.06 percent. BRVM Composite index gained 0.14 percent to 302.90 against 302.49 points previously.
The equity market capitalization surged by XOF 10 billion to close at XOF 7,474 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,464 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 199,525 traded stocks relative to 155,234 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 400.919 million (against XOF 1,055 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 31 traded securities via 270 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATED TOGO with 187,660 traded securities (accounted for about 94 percent of the total volume). SGB COTE D’IVOIRE recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 66.67 million contributing about 17 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 14.16 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 23.32.
Out of the 31 traded securities today, 13 stocks experienced price gains, 8 witness price drops and 10 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price, hence market strength ended positive. PALM COTE D’IVOIRE was the top price gainer by adding 6.00 percent to end at XOF 15,900. Other gainers were BANK of AFRICA BENIN with a rise of 5.65 percent at XOF 127,000 and BANK of AFRICA BURKINA FASO closed at XOF 102,500 by adding 5.02 percent. BANK of AFRICA COTE D’IVOIRE with a price gain of 2.73 percent to close at XOF 105,000 and TOTAL SENEGAL ended at XOF 27,000 with 1.89 percent to become the fifth gainer of the day.
Conversely, BANK OF AFRICA SENEGAL sagged by 2.47 percent to settle at XOF 79,000 and NEI-CEDA COTE D’IVOIRE decreased by 1.56 percent to close at XOF 5,050. Likewise, UNILEVER COTE D’IVOIRE plunged by 1.40 percent to close at XOF 26,500 and CIE COTE D’IVOIRE shrank by 1.25 percent to close at XOF 79,000. SERVAIR ABIDJAN COTE D’IVOIRE closed at XOF 79,000 by losing 0.75 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index marginally fell by 0.01 percent at 165 points and public utilities sector index plummeted by 0.41 percent to close at 859.24. Conversely, the distribution sector index rose by 0.44 percent to end at 531.60 points, financial services sector index increased by 0.71 percent to end at 107.71 points and agriculture sector index surged by 2.91 percent to close at 204.99 points. The transportation and miscellaneous sector indices remained unchanged to close at 901.36 and 559.26 respectively.
